I started on my birding journey in 2016 and have had a wonderful time learning about nature, discovering the incredible beauty all around us, meeting lots of other fellow enthusiasts, and developing my skill and knowledge as a photographer and naturalist.

I stumbled upon this crazy obsession quite by chance when I joined a bird walk through a local park as part of a magazine story I was writing. I have always loved photography so I grabbed her camera and prepared to take some “award winning” photos of our fine feathered friends, because, really, how difficult could photographing birds really be? I soon discovered the answer: incredibly difficult! Not to be bested by some little tiny feathered things, I decided to figure out how it was done, and an obsession was born! I started by purchasing some feeders and photographing the visitors to my backyard, and soon found myself wandering all over town, up and down the coast, and all over the state snapping pictures of everything that flew past my lens, and along the journey I found herself continually amazed at the beauty that is all around us!

Since that first photograph was snapped, I am proud to have developed quite a following as a wildlife photographer working under the pseudonym “Backyard Bird Nerd.” My photos have been featured in magazines, on websites, and in several businesses and art galleries around my home community in South Texas and I've been a guest speaker sharing mu passion with many groups and organizations.

As the owner of an advertising agency, writing has always been a big part of my life and career. My literary work has included producing text for websites, brochures, television and radio commercials, and magazine articles. Delving into the world of children’s literature has been an exciting and challenging adventure, and pairing these books with my love of photography has proven to be the perfect outlet for my passions and talents.

When not traveling all over the state, country, and world photographing birds and other wildlife, I lives in Victoria, Texas with my husband, two daughters, and my dog.
